How to export a Discord chat

Yes, but not from inside Discord itself. Discord has no "export channel" button. Discord's own data package only includes messages you sent. To save a whole channel, with everyone's messages, you need an exporter such as a browser extension.

• Google Chrome on a computer
• A Discord account that can see the channel
• The DiscordSuite extension (free): install it from the Chrome Web Store. How DiscordSuite works covers installing and pinning it.

   Install DiscordSuite from the Chrome Web Store and pin it to the toolbar.

   Open discord.com in Chrome and sign in.

   Open the channel or thread you want to export.

   Click the DiscordSuite icon. A small window opens with the channel and server name at the top, a format menu, date and message-count options, and an Export button.

   Pick a format and range. Choose HTML to read, CSV/Excel for spreadsheets, JSON for code or AI, TXT for a log. Add From/To dates (UTC, both days included) or pick the first or last N messages. For HTML, choose Light, Dark or Auto.

   Click Export and choose where to save the file.

Leave From and To empty to export from the first message. The free plan has a message limit per export. For bigger channels, export in date windows or use Chat Exporter (or All tools) for unlimited messages. To grab just the latest messages, choose Last N.

Open the thread so its own URL shows in the address bar, then click DiscordSuite.

With Chat Exporter (or All tools), tick "Export several channels" and choose the channels and threads to include. Each channel saves as its own file. See How to back up Discord server messages.

  reload Discord and try again.

  wait a few minutes.

• Export stops before the end of the chat

  that's the free message limit per export.
